SAN MARCOS – The Texas State soccer team and I-35 rival UTSA played to a scoreless draw Thursday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex in an exhibition match.

Beth Agee and Katelyn Chrisman combined for the shutout with four and three saves, respectively.

The Bobcats were outshot 16-5 with two shots coming from Kiara Gonzales. Also taking a shot apiece was Avery Thies, Kamaria Williams and Olivia Wright. Both Thies and Wright placed their shots on goal.

Starting out with an aggressive attack, the Roadrunner took nine shots in the first 45 minutes. Their best chance at finding the back of the net came late in the 27th minute. A shot from the top of the 18-yard box was stopped by Agee but she was unable to hold on to the attempt. A scramble in front of the net saw a visitor playing knock the ball across the line but was called back for a foul.

TXST adjusted at halftime and put pressure on the UTSA backline. Madison Humphrey received a pass near midfield and sent the ball diagonally to spring Kiara Gonzales in the 63rd minute. The junior got into the box and slotted a shot past the goalkeeper but hit the outside side netting.

An attempt by Thies off a free kick late in the 69th minute that was caught by the keep was the final shot by either team in the match.

Due to the Roadrunners not wearing numbered uniforms, individual stats were no able to be kept for them.

The Bobcats play their first regular-season match on Friday, August 20 at Incarnate Word. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium.
