Update: Five-Year-Old Stabbing Victim To Be Laid To Rest

Hays County Sheriff’s department received a 911 call around 12:51 p.m. reporting an aggravated assault in the Green Pastures subdivision of Kyle.

Family and friends will lay to rest, Tuesday, a five-year-old girl, who was killed last Thursday in Kyle.

Krystle Villanueva has been charged with capital murder for the death of her daughter Giovanna Hernandez.

Deputies responded to an aggravated assault call on Jan. 5 and discovered a 58-year-old man, Eustorgio Arellano-Uresti, in the driveway of a kyle home. Arellano-Uresti was taken to the hospital with multiple stab wounds.

Arellano-Uresti told police he had been stabbed his daughter-in-law, Villaneuva, who was now alone in the house with a child.

Villanueva was found by Hays County SWAT right after exiting the shower. Authorities detained the suspect and escorted her from the house.

Her five-year-old daughter was found dead in a bedroom.

Arellano-Uresti told police he had seen Villaneuva enter the kitchen around 11 am and take a knife from a drawer while he was making lunch. Arellano-Uresti said Villaneuva had then gone to a back bedroom, and he heard the little girl crying.

Police believe Villaneuva had been stabbing her daughter. She then returned to the kitchen and attacked her father-in-law.

Arellano-Uresti suffered stab wounds in the back and forehead as he tried to get the knife.

Authorities are running to tests to determine if Villaneuva was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of her daughter was killed. Villaneuva has reportedly had a history with marijuana, crack and meth.

Investigators said toxicology results could take up to six weeks to come in. Villaneuva is being held at Hays County Jail and has been charged with capital murder and aggravated assault.

Giovanna’s funeral services will take place at 10 am today in Buda at Santa Cruz Catholic Church.
