San Marcos Main Street Program Selects November 2017 Downtown Business of the Month

For the month of November, Main Street is proud to present the Downtown Business of the Month award to Twice Blessed Consignment Shop for their longevity as a Downtown business and their contributions to the local community.

Twice Blessed is a non-profit organization that supports local charities and funds community projects in the San Marcos Area. 

Joanne Childers, a member of the First United Methodist Church in San Marcos, first had the idea for the shop, which opened its doors in 2001.

Twice Blessed donates their share of proceeds to local charities and non-profit organizations. This 40 percent share usually ranges from $4,000-6,000 each month, and board members determine where proceeds will be donated during monthly board meetings.

Twice Blessed Consignment Shop has donated to organizations and charities such as Hays County Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Harvey Relief Fund, Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center and the Salvation Army. The shop is run entirely by volunteers, and new volunteers are always welcomed.

The San Marcos Main Street Program chooses one downtown business each month for the Downtown Business of the Month award. The award is presented to a business that exemplifies the following eight criteria; Growth, staying power, innovation, response to adversity, contribution to community oriented projects, marketing & promotional efforts, curb appeal, and beautification.
