Local Business To Thank First Responders With October Promotion, Encourages Participation In Citizen Police Academy

Brian Olson, Owner of Premier Cuts, will offer a special promotion through the month of October to celebrate and honor First Responders for all they do.

Olson has been a citizen of San Marcos since 2001 and owns four locations throughout the I-35 Corridor.

In 2014, he enrolled in the Citizen Police Academy course in San Marcos.

“The course was a great experience, and I would encourage everyone to participate in it,” Olson said. “You are given the chance to gain knowledgeable information and see, firsthand, how first responders need to be prepared for many situations.”

During the course, Olson said he was able to ride along and see how the San Marcos Police Department responds to calls and watch first responders effortlessly multitask and send out patrol cars, fire trucks and ambulances to each location while collecting all the information on the situation.

“The opportunity to volunteer and to feel the power of a taser for a split second while watching my friends, David Case and Belinda Byas, get a shock was priceless,” Olson said. “But my favorite part, hands down, was driving a police car on a practice course while “chasing the bad guys.”

While he found the experience enjoyable, Olson recognized the danger and risk first responders put themselves in every day in service to their community.

To thank them for the sacrifices and risks they take every day, all first responders in Hays County can stop by the San Marcos or Kyle locations and receive a free haircut on Premier Cuts.

“Just show up and show us your Police, Fire or EMS identification, and we will be happy to take care of you.
