11th ANNUAL TEXAS AUTHOR DAY AT SMPL

          The San Marcos Public Library will host more than 50 Texas authors and illustrators at the 11th annual Texas Author Day on Sunday, November 9, 2014, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.  These published writers and illustrators will sign copies of their books and chat with fans. A variety of genres will be represented including Texana, mystery, romance, science fiction & fantasy, children’s literature, poetry, and a wide variety of non-fiction. Several authors will read from or speak about their books beginning at 2:15 p.m.

 

Readings will take place in the library’s large meeting room. At 2:15 p.m. Texas State University physics professor Dr. Don Olson will speak about his book Celestial Sleuth: Using Astronomy to Solve Mysteries in Art, History, and Literature. At 3:00 p.m. Texas folklorist Donna Ingham will discuss “Tall Tales and True.” At 3:45 p.m. Texas music journalist John T. Davis will speak about his recent book The Flatlanders: Now It’s Now Again. At 4:30 p.m. renowned motivational speaker Dr. Joe Vitale will discuss “The Missing Secret.”

Young children will enjoy storytimes with Veronique Hahn, author of Zara and the Magical Slippers, at 2:30 p.m. and Candice Wiester, author of Jinglebell Grows Up, at 4:00 p.m.

         

Books will be available for purchase at the event from the Texas State University Bookstore and from the authors themselves. Autographed books make wonderful gifts for book lovers of all ages. The library is located at 625 E. Hopkins St. in San Marcos, Texas.
