Volunteers Spend Spring Break Providing Much-Needed Help To Central Texas Flood And Storm Survivors

Spring Break offers myriad opportunities to “get away from it all,” but the Blanco River Regional Recovery Team (BR3T) is grateful that so many have chosen to help flood and storm survivors in Central Texas rebuild their properties.

“We have 65 volunteers from Stony Brook University in Long Island, NY; 33 from Austin College in Sherman, TX and 11 from Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Abilene, TX and we appreciate each and every one of them for helping,” BR3T Executive Director Thomas Monahan said. “They’re working at 12 different sites in San Marcos, Wimberley, Martindale and Redwood so that our affected residents get back to where they were before the 2015 storms and floods.”

Since the May 2015 disasters, the BR3T has helped more than 1,000 families with their storm-related needs and still has nearly 400 families awaiting help. To volunteer or donate, visit www.BR3T.org or call 512-677-9701.
