Local, Hays County Government Offices To Close In Observation Of Presidents Day

Local, state and federal governments around the United States will be closed next Monday, Feb. 19, in observance of Presidents Day. 

Presidents Day is an American Holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February every year. Originally established to honor President George Washington, today, the holiday is viewed as a day to honor all Presidents of the United States of America.

Below are the schedules residents of Hays County can expect for the local and county governments. 

Hays County

Hays County offices will be closed Monday, February 18, for Presidents Day. Most offices will open at their regular times on Tuesday, February 19; however, the County Clerk substations in Dripping Springs, Kyle, and Wimberley will not be open as Clerk staff is needed in County Courts-at-Law that day.

The main Clerk’s office at the Government Center in San Marcos will be open Tuesday. The Hays County Commissioners Court will not meet on Tuesday, February 19.

On Presidents Day, the Office of Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra, the Hays County Veteran Services office, Gary Job Corps, and the Kiwanis Club will honor all public servants and the four U.S. Presidents from Texas by posting flags around the Courthouse Square and reading a proclamation from the steps of the historic courthouse. The public is invited to attend at 9 a.m. February 18 at 111 E. San Antonio St., San Marcos. 

Buda

All city offices, including the Buda Public Library, will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, in observance of Presidents’ Day.

San Marcos

City of San Marcos offices, including City Hall, Library, Activity Center, Municipal Court and Utility Offices, will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18 in observance of Presidents’ Day. Texas Disposal Systems will operate its usual Monday trash and recycling collection routes.

Offices will open at usual times on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Kyle 

City of Kyle offices will be closed all day Monday, Feb. 18. Offices will resume normal schedule Tuesday morning. City Council will still meet Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7 PM.
