WIC Offices To Be Closed For Training

“This will allow more time for system improvements as well as more time for employee training,” Krupinsky said.

The City of San Marcos WIC offices (located in San Marcos, Kyle, Lockhart, Seguin, and New Braunfels) will be closed December 11 – 15, 2017.

All staff will spend the week training on a new paperless system that will offer clients enhanced features and replace the multiple paper forms used currently.

Beginning Jan. 9, 2018, WIC clients will fill out less paperwork, receive automatic appointment reminders, and have access to enhanced growth charts and shopping lists.

Previously, the anticipated implementation date was Dec. 18, 2017. Due to system limitations and a request by the Department of State Health Services, DerryAnn Krupinsky, Assistant Director of Community Services – WIC Program, agreed to delay local implementation until Jan. 9, 2018.

“This will allow more time for system improvements as well as more time for employee training,” Krupinsky said. “While our employees were eager to roll out the new system in December, our main goal with the delay is to minimize client inconvenience.”
