SCHLITTERBAHN WATERPARKS EMPLOYEES GIVE BACK

Schlitterbahn Waterparks in New Braunfels, Texas recently sent two groups of employees to volunteer with the Hays County Food Bank. It was the Monday before Christmas, and the Food Bank needed all the help it could get. Many food drives still needed to be sorted through, the shelves needed to be restocked, orders for partner agencies and distributions needed to be filled, and the distributions themselves needed to be staffed. Thirteen Schlitterbahn employees in all were able to help out.

The first group arrived to help with the Monday distribution at Dunbar Recreation Center. Food insecure families and individuals are able to choose between different meats, produce, breads, and sweets in order to fill their kitchens with the food they need for the week.

The Schlitterbahn team manned food stations and helped the clients with their selections. They were able to interact with individuals in need and help fill a necessity in these people’s lives. Anna Garcia, Schlitterbahn Retail Operations Manager said, “It was a great experience for Schlitterbahn staff to help when the help is needed! Everyone was so thankful that we could be there to help!”

The second team helped out at the Hays County Food Bank’s warehouse. While, this group did not interact with the clients directly, they were able to help with the behind-the-scenes business of the food bank. They filled orders for the next day for the Kyle food distribution at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and for partner agencies Buda United Methodist Center and Wimberley Crisis Bread Basket. They also went through various food drive donations and sorted the different nonperishable food items.

The Food Bank is very grateful to have such a wonderful group’s help. If your company would like to participate in the HOPE (Hands On Partner Employer’s) Program, please contact Denise Blok at dblok@haysfoodbank.org or by phone at (512) 392-8300 x234.
