City of Kyle launches Team Kyle Academy

KYLE – The City of Kyle is creating the Team Kyle Academy to connect, educate and inspire residents to develop a passion for public service and civic engagement.

Team Kyle Academy is a 7-week program, with the aim of informing residents about their city and creating a more connected and public service-focused community. Throughout the course of the academy, residents will be educated about Kyle’s infrastructure, public safety measures, business growth, and more.

Classes will be held in-person on Mondays from 6-9 p.m. in the Council Chambers from April 25 through June 6, with a graduation ceremony during the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, June 7. Alternative locations will include Public Works Training Room, Library Meeting Rooms, or Kyle Police Department Training Room. Dinner will be provided at each class.

In addition to the classes, participants must also attend three field days. Class participants will be given a list of various city events and meetings they can choose to attend during the duration of the course. Participants will be allowed to miss one class/field day and must make up the absence with attendance of an approved event to graduate from the Academy.

Participants must be 18 years old and meet certain requirements to participate.

Applications open Tuesday, Feb. 1 and close Friday, March 18 Participation is free and does not require an application fee. Classes will be limited to 24 participants. Qualified Applicants are chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. Any applicants not chosen will be placed on a waiting list for future classes.
