21-Year-Old Former U.S. Marine Sentenced To 44 years For UNT Student
Tensions between two vehicles after a New Year’s party turns into “road rage.”
A former U.S. Marine has been sentenced to 44 years in prison by a Denton jury for the dead of a 20-year-old University of North Texas student.
Eric Johnson was convicted of murder, Monday, July 24, for the death of Sara Mutschlechner of Martindale on New’s Year’s Day 2016. He will be eligible for parole after serving 22 years.
Johnson and Mutschlechner were said to have been on their way home from a new year’s part; the former pulled a gun and fired two shots at her vehicle. The second bullet hit Mutschlechner, who was driving the other vehicle, in the head.
According to the Denton Record-Chronicle, Johnson testified he had only intended to scare Mutschlechner by firing over the vehicle to diffuse the tension between the two vehicles.
