6A State Champion Set To Join Bobcats For Upcoming Campaign

“I am pleased that Nathan has joined our team,” Kaspar said. “He is an athletic shooting guard that helped his team to an outstanding season on both ends of the floor.”

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State men’s basketball coach Danny Kaspar announced Wednesday the signing of guard Nathan McClure to a National Letter of Intent.

The Tomball, Texas, native is set to join a 2018 class that already includes Akiem Daschner (6-7, F, Lake Worth, Fla.) and Mason Harrell (5-9, G, Midwest City, Okla.).

“I am pleased that Nathan has joined our team,” Kaspar said. “He is an athletic shooting guard that helped his team to an outstanding season on both ends of the floor.”

McClure was a starter for a Concordia Lutheran High School squad that went 43-1 this past year en route to the 2018 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 6A State Championship.

The Crusaders ended the season ranked No. 12 in the state of Texas according to MaxPreps.com under the guidance of Bill Honeck.

McClure will come to San Marcos after averaging 14.0 points per game last year. He also helped lead CLHS to the state semifinals his junior year.

“Nathan is a very good shooter with good height and arm length,” Kaspar said. “I also think he has great basketball IQ. I’m confident that he will help us even in his freshman year.”

He is a two-time TAPPS Class 6A All-State honoree, most-recently earning first-team accolades his senior year. He is the son of Mark and Kerry McClure, and he was named to all-district teams each of his last three seasons.

The two-time academic all-state award winner also landed on the Class 6A State All-Tournament Team as a junior.
