Donation, Volunteer Opportunities In Hays County

Hays County Food Bank-
 
Locations accepting donations:
Barton Middle School located at 4950 Jack C. Hays Trail in Buda
Wallace Middle School located at 1500 West Center in Kyle
Chapa Middle School located at 3311 Dacy Lane in Kyle
Cabela’s located at 15570 S. IH-35 in Buda
Katherine Anne Porter School located at 515 FM 2325 in Wimberley
 
Community members can also drop off donations at their office located at 220 Herndon St in San Marcos.
 
The organization is currently in need of can openers, high protein canned goods, peanut butter single serving meals or snacks, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, diapers and paper products for eating or drinking.
 
Salvation Army- Those wishing to provide assistance to the Salvation Army can either do so by donating money or signing up to volunteer. Additionally, monetary donations can be contributed by phone at 1-800-725-2769.
 
H-E-B- H-E-B is assisting in the disaster relief effort by providing clean up kits to evacuees and first responders. The company will also utilize its mobile kitchen to deliver provide hot meals and bottled water to flood victims. The schedule for those activities can be found here.
American Red Cross- The Red Cross is assisting HEB in providing hot meals to flood survivors. The group is currently accepting applications for volunteers to help out with disaster relief. Those wishing to make monetary donations can do so either in person or by calling 512-928-4271. Additionally, $10 donations can be made by texting REDCROSS to 90999.
 
People in need of shelter, food or comfort can call the Red Cross at 1-877-500-8645. The organization also has a site for flood survivors and their families to communicate. To register yourself as “safe and well’ or find a registrant,click here.
 
Serve San Marcos-Serve San Marcos is also helping flood relief efforts in the city. To sign up to volunteer or donate time and supplies click here. The organization is hosting a day of service tomorrow starting at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Exact details for the event have yet to be finalized.
Goodwill- Anything donated to Goodwill is going on sale on their floor, not for assistance with the flood relief efforts.
 
Pets- Staff and volunteers for the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter are currently working out of the San Marcos Activity Center. Donations of food, water or bedding for animals are accepted there.
