Hays County To celebrate National Night Out Against Crime

Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler is pleased to announce that on October 6, 2015 Hays County will be participating along with the rest of Texas to celebrate National Night Out Against Crime.
National Night Out for Texas is October 6, 2015! It is America’s Night Out Against Crime, and has been held annually since 1984.
The event is meant to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch/Neighborhood Watch, and other anti-crime efforts. Initially communities held lights-on vigils. Now, many communities hold block parties, festivals, and other events to help bring neighbors together.
National Night Out is designed to:
  1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
  2. Generate support and participation in crime efforts.
  3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations.
  4. Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Please check with your local law enforcement or your neighborhood watch coordinator to see if your neighborhood is registered. Neighborhoods are also encouraged to register online at the National Night Out website at https://natw.org/registration. Please register by September 22, 2015.
If you have further questions or need to register in Hays County, you can contact Deputy Thomas Ormsby of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office at 512-393-7373 or via email at tormsby@co.hays.tx.us.
