CAMPO, San Marcos Invites Public To Participate In The Platinum Planning Study
The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), in collaboration with the City of San Marcos, invites the public to participate in the San Marcos Platinum Planning Study Virtual Open House and an online survey, beginning August 31 and running through September 28.
The study aims to identify needs and strategies to support potential transportation and development planning efforts within the San Marcos community.
Participants may “attend” the Virtual Open House by visiting SMTXStudy.com. to see an overview of the study and complete an interactive survey and mapping exercises.
“San Marcos residents want to see a vibrant and thriving future for our city, so we need the planning efforts to ensure we grow in a way that reflects the unique character, history, and beauty of our town,” said Mayor Jane Hughson.
The study will focus on evaluating three transportation corridors: Guadalupe/SH 123, SH 80/Hopkins Road, and a potential new north-south connection east of IH-35. It will suggest potential improvements for transportation users including motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Additionally, the study will examine several activity centers, including the Government Complex, Midtown Center, and the Medical Center, to create concepts for transportation and connections to housing, jobs, and services.
Residents, community groups, students, businesses, and those who commute to and from San Marcos are encouraged to share their thoughts and help spread the word to neighbors and friends about how to participate in this study.
