Kyle Field Day Brings Back Old School Recess Fun For Adults

Kyle, TX – Weekend warriors, and those slightly less serious, will gather this spring in Gregg-Clarke Park for Kyle Field Day presented by Chuck Nash Chevrolet Buick GMC. The first of its kind event in Kyle will bring together teams of 8-10 in a competitive yet fun event benefitting Hays County Food Bank.

“It’s a weekend of retro games like Tug-o-War, Giant Jenga and Relay Races,” Event Specialist Sarah Watson said. “Think of it like recess for adults.”

A beer garden, music and food trucks give players an added incentive to join the fun, not to mention the food bank’s ‘Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive’.

Another event highlight is Human Foosball, where players stand in for the game pieces on an oversized court specially designed and built by Home Depot for Kyle Field Day.

Not a natural athlete? Not a problem.

Teams can earn points in a variety of silly skill games and activities as well, thanks to sponsors like State Farm, Cory Pack Agent.

On Friday night, enjoy the welcome social and packet pick-up where teams will have a chance to meet their competition and rack up some extra-credit points. Game Day Saturday will bring on the fun as teams compete in both featured games and scramble events.

Watson said teams earning the most points can win awards, but so can the teams with the best costumes and those that bring in the most PB&J for the food bank.

“We want everyone to just have fun with this and be as serious or silly as they want to be,” she said. “It’s all in good fun for a great cause.”

Full teams can register together. Watson said the event creates a ready-made team-building opportunity for corporations and organizations throughout Central Texas and beyond.

“Companies and work teams can use this event as a way to utilize problem-solving skills and communication to earn more points,” Watson said.

Don’t have a team? Watson said not to worry because individuals can register to be placed on a team.  (Not a bad way to make new friends, either.)

Early-bird registration is open now for $25 per person ($200 per team of eight) until March. 12.  From March 13-24, the price increases to $35 per person ($280 per team of eight). The price includes a Kyle Field Day T-shirt.

Kyle Field Day is a 21+ event, so participants must be 21 or older on or before April 1 and advanced registration is required.  Learn more (including vendor and sponsorship opportunities) and register at www.kylefieldday.com or call 512-938-8098.
