2017 MTC Community Supporter Of The Year

Gary Job Corps Center, operated by Management & Training Corporation for the Department of Labor, has announced the 2017 MTC Community Supporter of the year.
Diana Tagle-Guerrero, Executive Assistant to the Principal at Travis Elementary, was chosen from a field of 18 Job Corps Centers throughout the United States.
According to Gary Job Corps, Tagle-Guerrero has been a strong supporter and advocate for the Gary Job Corps Center in San Marcos. She has been involved with the center for over 16 years.
Through her efforts, the center has been included Gary Job Corps Center in the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District’s activities and “focused on the importance of the opportunities afforded by the job corps program.”
Tagle-Guerrero has been involved and supported the center through community partnerships, Gary Job Corps said. She is currently the Chairperson of the Gary Community Relations Council as student support; she has held the position for the last seven years. Other activities she has been involved with are Work-Based-Learning/student internships, involving students as teacher’s aides, “Groundhog Job Shadow Day” for the last 16 years, assisting with collecting over 1,000 lbs. food donations to the Hays County Food Bank with the Gary Center, assisting with collecting $800 worth of diapers with the Gary Center and Holiday Inn and Suites for the Hays/Caldwell Women’s Center, a key person in the San Marcos School District assisting with the placing of students in WBL-sites in four schools, a member of Gary Job Corps Workforce Council, assisted with donation collection for purchasing Christmas gifts for children at the San Marcos Youth Shelter, a member of the San Marcos Boards, and supplied school sites for the “Reading Across America” program.
She has been a speaker offering inspirational lectures about her own life, growing up in Central Texas and setting goals to students.
According to Gary Job Corps, she has a sincere belief in youth following the ‘American Dream.’ Due to her commitment, Gary Job Corps has adopted Travis Elementary as part of the “Adopt-a-school” program.
