“Make a Difference Day” San Marcos 2017 With Gary Job Corps
Gary Job Corps students and staff have participated in “Make a Difference Days” activities for over 10 years by assisting many non-profit and care facilities with volunteer projects.
Make a Difference Day is one of the largest annual single-days of service nationwide. Volunteers from around the nation come together with a common mission: to improve the lives of others.
Make a Difference Day has evolved from an idea for a national day of service on February 29, 1992, a Leap Year; it has transformed into the current national event held annually on the fourth Saturday every October.
Make a Difference Day shows that anyone, no matter of age or background, can make an impact on their community. Thousands of projects take place every October; some large, many small, but each effort makes an important difference to our communities.
Gary Job Corps students and staff have participated in “Make a Difference Days” activities for over 10 years by assisting many non-profit and care facilities with volunteer projects.
Some of the projects for 2017 were: set-up and walking in the Alzheimer’s Texas Walk, traffic and crowd control at Sacred Springs Powwow, games/exercise/dancing at the San Marcos Nursing and Rehab, color guard and admin assistance at the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials Conference, collecting food and distribution for the Hays County Food Bank, and clean-up along Highway 21.
