Night Hawk Frozen Foods Committed To The Tackling Hunger Title Sponsor

The 9th Annual Turkeys Tackling Hunger Campaign is looking for sponsors to help provide over 3,500 Hays County families with holiday meals, and everyone deserves a home-cooked meal during the holidays, but not everyone can afford to purchase all the foods necessary to serve one.

That’s where the idea for the Hays County Food Bank’s Turkeys Tackling Hunger campaign comes in. Every year, the food bank asks the community to come together to help provide the fixings for holiday meals for the food insecure in the county, and corporate sponsors play a big part in helping to raise the necessary funds.

In 2014, nearly 3,400 Hays County families signed up to receive a turkey box. The Hays County Food Bank provided, at no cost to the individuals or agencies, a frozen turkey, sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie filling for the families’ holiday meal. We expect there to be even more of a need for these holiday boxes this year because of the Hill Country Flood. We have already seen a significant increase in individuals coming to our public food distributions throughout the week, and we anticipate even more.

For 50 years, Night Hawk Frozen Foods has been producing frozen dinners for Texans across the state, and since October of 2013, they have donated a little over 2 ½ tons of these frozen items to the Hays County Food Bank. Now, for the second year in a row, Night Hawk Frozen Foods, headquartered in Buda, has stepped up to become the title sponsor for Turkeys Tackling Hunger.

Night Hawk has pledged $10,000 towards the campaign, and not only will they be helping to fund Turkeys Tackling Hunger, but they will also be shutting down production for a day in order to assemble all of the holiday boxes at their warehouse. Night Hawk Frozen Foods is also providing storage for the poultry as well as helping to obtain food at a lesser cost.
