Buda Delays Grand Opening Of New City Hall, Library Until July

A request for proposals for those wanting to lease the old city hall and annex building are due by June 15. The existing library will be repurposed as Buda’s Main Street and Tourism offices…

Instead of opening in May, Buda city officials agreed to delay the opening of a new 55,000-square-foot Municipal Facility until the end of July.

David Marino, Public Information Officer, City of Buda

The facility will house city hall and a library. The library portion of the building is approximately 25,000 square feet.

Voters approved $55 million in bonds in 2014 to build the Municipal Facility as well as a safety building that was completed in November.

One of the final outstanding works in progress for the Municipal Facility is the ordering, manufacturing, delivery and installation of all furnishing, fixtures and equipment.

This process was delayed due to city council members’ concerns with the price of a bid contract for the furnishings.

A request for proposals for those wanting to lease the old city hall and annex building are due by June 15. The existing library will be repurposed as Buda’s Main Street and Tourism offices.
