The shelter at the Met Center does not have the capacity or staff to manage on-site donations and is not accepting donations at the shelter. Clothing, personal items, and other needs are being met through the shelter management process. People interested in supporting hurricane survivors are encouraged to make monetary donations to established, reputable organizations assisting in relief and recovery efforts.

The Best Ways to Help:

  • Individuals, groups, and corporations should consider making a cash donation to a recognized relief organization.
  • For a list of local organizations who are accepting non-cash donations visit:  http://www.austintexas.gov/help and Mayor Steve Adler’s website at mayoradler.com.
  • Corporations that want to help can contact Texas Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) nvoad.org/hurricane-harvey/corporate-donations.  VOAD is compiling a list of donation offers and will work to match those offers with local needs in the Austin area as well as other hard-hit communities.
