P&Z Slated To Consider Recommendation For Development Code Amendments

Staff Reports

Tonight, the San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing and consider a recommendation to the City Council regarding text amendments to the city’s development code.

Commissioners will consider and address recommendations from the Alcohol Conditional Use Permit Committee, the Housing Task Force, the Historic Preservation Commission and staff concerning application processing and requirements and more.

In June 2019, the City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission held a joint workshop to allow the opportunity to review the proposed changes and provide staff with direction on which requests should be reviewed.

In November 2019, the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed and provided a recommendation on proposed Phase 1 amendments which consisted of typos and technical errors, policy items that the joint committee directed be expedited at the June 2019 workshop, and amendments related to House Bills approved during the 2019 Legislative Session.

The amendments were reviewed at the December 3rd City Council meeting and approved upon second reading at the December 17 City Council meeting.

The Planning and Zoning Commission is slated for only four items, not including public comments at tonight’s meeting. All items are public hearings.

Among the remaining public hearings is an alternative compliance request, conditional use permit, and the 2021-2030 Capital Improvement Program.

Commissioners will convene for a virtual meeting at 6:00 PM. All public comments must be submitted in person to the city clerk’s office or to planninginfo@sanmarcostx.gov no later than 12:00 PM today.
