Baylor Series Announced For TXST; Bobcat Football Coverage Avenues Released

Baylor Series Announced For TXST. Bobcats to host Bears in 2021 and travel to Waco in 2022, 2023.

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Director of Athletics Dr. Larry Teis announced Thursday afternoon that the Bobcat football program has agreed to a three-game contract with Baylor University.

The Bobcats will play host to the Bears out of the Big 12 Conference on Sept. 4, 2021. TXST will then travel to Waco for a pair of contests on Sept. 17, 2022 and Sept. 2, 2023.

“We are extremely excited about announcing this series for our fans and student-athletes,” Teis said. “It will be great to welcome back a Big 12 Conference university to Bobcat Stadium. Baylor has a strong football history and having them visit us in San Marcos will be a great event for our Bobcat community. Having the opportunity to travel to Waco for two games will also be very convenient for our fans and student-athletes. We would expect to not only have a great turnout for our home game but for our fans to travel exceptionally well on the road.”

The 2021 game at Bobcat Stadium will mark the second time in school history that Texas State will host a team from a Power 5 Conference (ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC).

TXST welcomed Texas Tech on Sept. 8, 2012 in front of the second-largest crowd in school history (33,006). The largest attendance inside Bobcat Stadium came on Sept. 24, 2016, when the Bobcats played host to then-No. 6 Houston in front of 33,133 fans.

Texas State will be looking for its first triumph over a Power 5 program when they travel to Rutgers on Sept. 1 to kickoff the 2018 campaign.

The season opener will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

TXST returns to Bobcat Stadium for its first home game against Texas Southern on Sept. 8 and opens its Sun Belt Conference schedule at South Alabama on Sept. 15.

The Bobcats travel to UTSA on Sept. 22 before returning home to host Sun Belt foes Louisiana on Oct. 6 and Georgia Southern on Oct. 11. Texas State plays at ULM on Oct. 20 and battles New Mexico State in its annual Homecoming game on Oct. 27.

The maroon and gold will then head to Georgia State on Nov. 3, host Appalachian State on Nov. 10, travel to Troy on Nov. 17 and end the regular season at home against Arkansas State on Nov. 24.

Bobcat fans can purchase 2018 season tickets for all six home games for as low as $80 through the Athletic Ticket Office.

Fans can get tickets in person at the North End Zone Complex of Bobcat Stadium, by calling 512-245-2272, or online at TxStateBobcats.com and logging into the Online Ticket Center. Half-season tickets and single-game tickets are also available for purchase.
