On Friday, April 20, Berry Aviation broke ground on a 31,000+ square foot facility and a 40-year land lease with the City of San Marcos.

The new facility will include a 20,000 square foot maintenance hanger, machine shop, non-destructive testing lab, state-of-the-arts parts retrieval system and more than 10,000 square feet of office space.

The company will add an additional 20 to 30 “high-skilled” employees to their staff as part of their expansion.

Berry Aviation was formed in 1983 in Austin, Texas. Today, San Marcos Regional Airport is home to the company’s headquarters.

Attendees to the ground breaking heard from Mayor John Thomaides, San Marcos City Council member, Scott Gregson, Stan Finch, president of Berry Aviation and Jim Wimberly, Texas Aviation Partners.

Thomaides said Berry Aviation conducted over 50 flights for Wings of Rescue and U.S. Humane Society carrying over 100 tons of emergency supplies into Hurricane Harvey, Irma and Maria zones and flew over 4,500 pets to safety.
