Bobcats started fall camp Friday 

SAN MARCOS — As the 2021 Division I FBS football season approaches, the Texas State Bobcats will begin its fall camp on Friday, Aug. 6.

Student-athletes report to campus on Thursday, Aug. 5. The fall camp concludes on Saturday, Aug. 21, when the Bobcats host their Annual Football Media Day at 11 a.m. inside the University Event Center.

Head coach Jake Spavital begins his third season with the Bobcats. Texas State finished the 2020 campaign with a 2-10 record after falling in six games by 10-or-less points. Two Bobcats earned All-American honors last year. Return specialist Jeremiah Haydel was named a First-Team All-American (ESPN) and Second Team All-American (Football Writers of American, Phil Steele). Dalton Cooper was selected to the Freshman All-American Second Team by The Athletic.

Cooper returns for the Bobcats this season, along with the quarterback duo of Tyler Vitt and Brady McBride.

In the offensive backfield, the three-headed monster of Brock Sturges, Calvin Hill, and Jahmyl Jeter are anxious to improve on their rushing totals from a season ago when the trio combined to rush for 1,389 yards and 13 touchdowns on 259 attempts.

Wide receiver Marcell Barbee, who hauled in 10 receiving touchdowns in 2020, also returns as a key target in the Bobcats’ passing attack.

Across the line of scrimmage, Jarron Morris returns in the secondary with his team-high four interceptions from last season. Nico Ezidore, who led the team with 3.5 sacks and 13.0 tackles for loss, will be joined by senior Caeveon Patton on the defensive line.

The Bobcats open the 2021 season on Sept. 4 when they host the Baylor Bears at Bobcat Stadium at 6 p.m.  The Bobcats have five other home games against Incarnate Word on September 18, South Alabama on October 9, Troy on October 16, ULM on November 6, and Georgia Southern on November 13.

Tickets for the 2021 season are now available with different options for fans to purchase:

• Season Tickets
  $95 in general admission section; $155 West Reserved, Priority $155 with a required Bobcat Club donation

• Two half-season packages
  Package A: Baylor, two additional games – $60 for general admission, $100 for priority sections.
  Package B- Any three games other than Baylor- $50 for general admission, $80 for priority sections.

• Single-Game tickets
  As low as $35 in general admission section; go up to $70 in priority seating sections. (Baylor)
  As low as $15 in general admission section; go up to $45 for priority seating sections

A Bobcat Club donation is required to access priority seats. Each seat donation goes toward Bobcat Club donations for the 2021 year and can lead to membership benefits such as parking and pre-game hospitality to round out your game day experience.
