BREAKING: Evacuations Ordered Along Blanco and San Marcos Rivers

City officials have ordered evacuations along the San Marcos and Blanco Rivers in San Marcos due to the threat of flooding as the Blanco River crests.

The San Marcos Activity Center, located at 501 E. Hopkins, has been opened as an evacuation center.

San Marcos residents in neighborhoods along both the rivers’ banks are being ordered to leave. People living in the floodway, or in other flood-prone areas, are advised to seek higher ground. Authorities anticipate high volumes of water to flow downstream from the Blanco River around 1 p.m.

Residents in the affected areas are being called using the region’s emergency notification system. Police and firefighters are also going door-to-door to warn people to evacuate.
