Austin, Travis County Hurricane Harvey Update
There may be some areas with standing water and, after strong winds overnight, debris on the roads. Please, avoid driving, but we ask that people call 3-1-1 if they see debris or to report traffic signals that are flashing or with no power.
The Austin-Travis County Emergency Operations Center continues to monitor weather conditions. There is currently no immediate threat of severe flooding. There may be some areas with standing water and, after strong winds overnight, debris on the roads. Please, avoid driving, but we ask that people call 3-1-1 if they see debris or to report traffic signals that are flashing or with no power.

Remember, the National Weather Service states that more than 75% of the flash flood deaths in Texas happen on the road. The safest thing to do during flash flooding in Austin is to stay off the road. If you do need to drive, please check ATXfloods.com before heading out. Also, remember to slow down and use caution on wet roads. “Save Yourself – Turn Around, Drown!”

A waterway ban remains in effect for the following areas:
- All creeks within the City of Austin area
- Barton Creek
- Bull Creek
- Lake Austin from Mansfield Dam to Tom Miller Dam
- Lady Bird Lake
- Colorado River downstream of Longhorn Dam
The following City facilities are closed today due to weather:
- Golf Courses will be closed to protect the integrity of the turf as is standard practice
- Swimming Pools, including Barton Springs, will be closed because of inclement weather
- Barton Creek Greenbelt is closed — Other Greenbelts and trails may close based upon conditions but that has yet to be determined
- Susannah Dickinson museum is closed due to roof damage
The City of Austin will not require permitting tree removal prior to removing regulated trees that are an imminent hazard as a result of the storm. Permits are required to be submitted retroactively. For more information visit: https://www.austintexas.gov/faq/tree-regulations
