City Municipal Building New Home To Permit Center & More

The City of San Marcos Engineering & Capital Improvements and Planning & Development Services Departments, including the Permit Center, have relocated to the renovated second floor of the Municipal Building, 630 E Hopkins. Hours of operation remain 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday with anytime access to permits at www.MyPermitNow.org.

Contractors, developers and residents may visit the second floor to conduct business related to permits, planning and engineering projects. Designated customer parking spots will be available adjacent to the front of the building.

“This is an opportunity for the community to have access to all our staff in one place,” said Shannon Mattingly, Director of Planning & Development Services. “We’ve worked to make the move seamless for the public, development and contracting communities.”

Plans are underway for the permit center building to be repurposed for use by other City departments, including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program staff and mail service operations. Currently, CDBG is located in the Main Street Office, 317 N LBJ Dr.
