City Of San Marcos To Hold CDBG Stakeholder, Applicant Workshops
These funds are provided to the City from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for projects that benefit low-to-moderate income San Marcos residents.
The City of San Marcos will host a Community Development Block Grant applicant workshop Wednesday, March 8 at 9 a.m. in the 2nd floor Large Conference Room of the Municipal Building, 630 E. Hopkins St.
The workshop will cover details of the application process, eligibility and compliance requirements, and will provide a general overview of the CDBG Grant Program.
Attendance is not mandatory for filing an application but is recommended. Assistance will be available for Spanish-speaking persons with limited English proficiency.
The City also invites all persons interested in learning more about the City’s CDBG program to attend a Stakeholder Workshop on Monday, March 13 beginning at 6 p.m.
The workshop will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room of the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E Hopkins Street, San Marcos, Texas.
The workshop will provide an overview of the CDBG grant program and will explain the annual application process. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and to complete a short community needs survey regarding the use of CDBG funding in the next program year.
All comments received and survey results will be provided to the City Council and will be summarized in the City’s 2017 Action Plan.
Both the Municipal Building and the Activity Center are accessible to people with disabilities.
Applications
The City of San Marcos is accepting applications for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funding now through 5 p.m. March 27.
These funds are provided to the City from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for projects that benefit low-to-moderate income San Marcos residents.
Applications may be submitted by non-profit organizations and City departments; the City is not accepting applications from individuals who need personal housing or other financial assistance.
Eligible projects must satisfy a national CDBG program objective and address one or more of the priority needs of housing, transportation, infrastructure improvements, public facilities, public services (programs), or the elimination or clearance of areas of spot blight.
Applications may be downloaded from the City’s website at www.sanmarcostx.gov/cdbg in PDF format. Requests to receive an application in Microsoft Word format can be made by e-mail to cdbg@sanmarcostx.gov.
