Gary Job Corps Celebrates New Years With Students

block-quote-verticle-purple-bar-7x100Gary Job Corps Chef Gary Orris and the culinary staff served the 2017 first supper meal of steak and shrimp to the students in celebration of the New Year.  Gary Job Corps is a federally funded program for young men and women between the ages of 16 and 24,  training in over 25 vocations in health and support occupations, construction and manufacturing vocations. The Center has been operated by Management & Training Corporation for the Department of Labor since 2000. 


Gary Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program that helps young people, 16 – 24, improve their quality of life. In 1964, Lyndon B. Johnson he wanted to establish a job corps camp in San Marcos to help young people gather the skills needed to contribute to the community and improve their lives. The San Marcos Job Corps center opened in March of 1965.
