NEW ORLEANS – For the second straight year, Tramesha Hardy was selected as the Sun Belt Conference’s Most Outstanding Women’s Track Performer and Texas State’s Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Jody Stewart was named the Women’s Coach of the Year.

Hardy walked out of the Bobcat Track & Field Stadium on the final day of the SBC Outdoor Championships with two gold and two silver medals.

The junior defended her 200-meter dash title with a time of 22.95, the quickest non-wind aided time in program history and second fastest overall, and claimed a silver in the 100m.

The Houston native ran the anchor leg on the silver medal winning 4x100m relay. Hardy completed the second leg of the 4x400m relay that went on to claim gold in 3:38.55.

The victory in the mile relay also clinched the Triple Crown for the Bobcats for the first time in program history. They also became the first women’s program in the Sun Belt to accomplish the feat since 2011 by former conference member Western Kentucky.

Stewart garnered his sixth SBC Coach of the Year honor in just his third year in charge of the TXST programs. The women’s championship was the second straight outdoor title and the fifth consecutive overall Sun Belt championship.

The Bobcat women edged out Arkansas State 139.5 to 138.5 for the trophy while the men compiled 131 points to finish as runners-up.

Overall, the men and women combined to win 23 medals with a nearly even split between the teams. The women took home five gold, four silver and two bronze medals while the men won four of each.

Texas State will be sending 16 student-athletes to compete in 15 events at the NCAA West Preliminary meet that begins on Thursday in Sacramento, California.
