San Marcos Completes Street Overlay Projects

The Transportation Division of the City’s Public Services Department recently completed street overlay projects on Cape Road, Cheatham Street, Mosscliff Circle, and Post Road.

Overlay projects are one component of the City’s Pavement Management Program, which includes regular rating, repairing and resurfacing of existing roadways.

The Pavement Management Program utilizes a combination of preservation treatments for annual maintenance, including asphalt overlay, slurry seal, crack sealing, and base repairs.

These treatments can extend the life of the pavement from 10 to 15 years, delaying expensive reconstruction costs.

The next scheduled pavement management projects are the slurry sealing of McCarty Lane from IH35 to FM 110, and Rattler Road from FM 110 to Old Bastrop Road.

These projects are tentatively scheduled to begin in late June or early July.
