Hays County Arrests Suspect Of Multiple Vehicle Burglaries In Buda

All of these burglaries were committed when property owners left valuable items, including firearms, inside unlocked vehicles.

Over the past several weeks The Hays County Sheriff’s Office conducted an exhaustive investigation involving multiple burglaries in the Sunfield, Shadow Creek and Crosswinds subdivisions.

The investigation led to multiple arrests of a local resident identified as:

Matthew Xavier Acosta, 17 years of age, Buda resident

Acosta was arrested on the following dates and charged with the following offenses:

Arrest July 11, 2018

  • Burglary of a Vehicle X 4    $2,000 bond/each
  • Burglary of a Vehicle X 1     $8,000 bond
  • Theft of a Firearm                 $5,000 bond

Arrest July 31, 2018

  • Burglary of a Vehicle X 2     $ 3,000 bond/each
  • Evading Arrest $ 3,000 bond

Arrest August 2, 2018

  • Burglary of a Vehicle X 2     $ 5,000 bond/each
  • Theft of a Firearm       $25,000 bond

All of these burglaries were committed when property owners left valuable items, including firearms, inside unlocked vehicles. Additionally, these burglaries were committed between a wide range of hours – from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

The Hays County Sheriffs want to caution the public to realize the importance of remaining vigilant, observant and remove all valuables from their vehicle and lock them all times.
