Hays County Explorers Receive Awards At State Competition

The competition was comprised of 64 teams from 38 law enforcement agencies throughout Texas.

Members of the Hays County Law Enforcement Explorer Post 1911 received 1st place in the Active Shooter scenario and 2nd place in the Misdemeanor Traffic Stop event at the 2017 Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association (“TLEEAA”) State Competition.

The competition was held on July 28th and 29th at the University of Texas at Arlington. Judges were from local north Texas law enforcement agencies as well as from the Texas Department of Safety, FBI, and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

In addition to active shooter and traffic stops, the competition included scenarios such as domestic crisis, burglary/robbery in progress, crime scene search, traffic accidents, persons in crisis, and unknown call for police. The competition was comprised of 64 teams from 38 law enforcement agencies throughout Texas.

Hays County Explorer Post 1911 was formed in 2013 at Lehman High School, Kyle, Texas and is part of the Explorer Club career education program for young men and women under the Learning for Life executive board, an affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America.
