FEMA Distributes Supplies To Texas Including Water, Blankets & Diesel

Staff Reports

Federal officials and agencies are monitoring situations in Texas according to Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary Wednesday.

In a daily news briefing, Psaki said the Administration and FEMA are coordinating to monitor the states affected by the severe winter weather.

“FEMA has supplied generators to Texas and is preparing to move diesel into the state to ensure the continued availability of backup power,” Psaki said, “Which of course is a major issue on the ground—to key critical infrastructure including communications, hospitals, and water.”

Psaki said they remain in close contact with states across the affected area to ensure any federal support requirements are met.

According to Psaki, FEMA is also supplying blankets and water to Texas at its request.

Wednesday, Governor Greg Abbott provided a briefing and update on the state’s response to winter weather conditions and power outages.

Abbott issued a disaster declaration on Feb. 13 in all 254 counties ahead of the winter storms.

According to a report by KVUE, Abbott has spoken with President Joe Biden about the emergency situation and discussed topics such as natural gas prices, Texans’ electricity bills, and busted pipes from this week.
