Hays County Judge Releases Update On Vaccine Availability

On Thursday, Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra released a press release regarding vaccine availability.

According to the release, Hays County Medical providers are currently vaccinating first responders, direct care hospital workers, long-term care workers, EMS, home health providers, pharmacy workers and school nurses.

Some medical providers may have also transitions to start vaccination of Tier 1B citizens, persons 65 and older or 16 and older who are pregnant or have at least one chronic medical condition.

“The State has yet to release vaccines to Hays County Public Health, but we anticipate receiving a shipment within the next couple of weeks. Once received we will notify the public,” Becerra said.

As of Thursday, the state has sent vaccines to the following providers: Setons Hays-Kyle, Austin Regional Clinic – Buda & Kyle, Baylor Scott & White – Buda, HEB – Buda, Dripping Springs, Wimberley, Kyle and San Marcos, San Marcos Family Medicine, Brookshire – Wimberley and Wimberley Pharmacy.

The vaccines are free, but a medical facility may require registration or to be seen by a doctor before administering the vaccine. To schedule a vaccination, residents should call the organization directly for information.
