Breaking: Hays County Sheriff’s Office Makes Arrests In Dripping Springs Burglaries

The burglaries that were cleared occurred in numerous locations in the Dripping Springs area.

The Dripping Springs area experienced a string of vehicle burglaries overnight Monday and Tuesday, September 25 – 26, 2017.

The incidents involved multiple vehicles being burglarized at several locations. Detectives responded to these crime scenes to assist patrol deputies with the investigations.

A vehicle from a local business was also stolen and used to smash through fences at two different locations. This vehicle was later recovered by law enforcement personnel.

Detectives developed several leads that culminated in a search warrant being executed at the 200 block of Barton Bend Road in Dripping Springs.

Shortly after securing the location, a resident’s vehicle arrived at the property with what was determined to be stolen property from unreported crimes in Austin that had just occurred.

Subsequent to the search of the property, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office recovered stolen property totaling over $20,000, clearing multiple burglaries within the Hays and Travis County area. After a two-day search of the property, seven individuals were identified and arrested.

These subjects included persons involved in the current investigation as well as subjects on- scene that had active warrants. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues. The burglaries that were cleared occurred in numerous locations in the Dripping Springs area.

It is likely that these offenses occurred after dark and the perpetrators were in a motor vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone who may have surveillance cameras to check their video between September 25th and 27th for any suspicious activity.

The targeted areas that were burglarized during this time include US 290, RR 12 and Fitzhugh Road. The suspect vehicles include a silver hatchback, a black SUV and a silver single cab pickup.

These cases were quickly solved with the aid of the Dripping Springs community. Area residents who had installed home security systems were able to provide detailed information that allowed for the apprehension of the suspects and recovery of a significant amount of stolen property.
