Staff Reports

On Tuesday, January 15, the City of San Marcos announced the City Clerk’s office has earned the Texas Department of State Health Services (HHS) 2018 Exemplary Five Star Service Award for local vital statistics registrars.

“Margaret Salinas and Elizabeth Trevino are the dynamic duo that achieve this high honor each year,” said City Clerk Jamie Case.

According to the city, the team works to ensure that records are received and filled within the appropriate timeframes required by the state, and that staff members stay up to date on all training and regulations and serve as a mentor to many other cities and counties.

“I want to congratulate the entire City Clerk staff for the tremendous customer experience they provide each day to our citizens,” said City Manager Bert Lumbreras. “The quick and efficient passport services they provide, as well as birth and death records, help people live a fulfilling and rewarding life.”

In order to qualify for the Five Star Award, local registrars are required to meet timelines and training and registration management criteria set by the TDSHS Vital Statistics Unit.

The Clerk’s office has won this prestigious statewide award for the last 13 years for outstanding public service.
