The Texas Department of Transportation is planning overnight I-35 and US 183 mainlane and ramp closures Oct. 24-25, weather permitting, to allow crews to remove overhead sign bridges. Traffic will be diverted to the I-35 and US 183 frontage roads at the closures.

From 11:45 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Wednesday night, both the north and southbound I-35 mainlanes will fully close near Woodland Avenue. Traffic will be diverted to the frontage road.

The southbound Woodland Avenue entrance ramp will also close. Beginning at 9 p.m., Woodland Avenue at I-35 will close. Drivers wishing to cross I-35 at Woodland Avenue should use Oltorf Street or Riverside Drive. (See attached illustration.)

From 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Thursday night, southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane from the Woodland Avenue/Oltorf Street exit to the entrance ramp north of Oltorf Street. The southbound Woodland Avenue entrance ramp will also be closed.

In addition, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Thursday night, southbound US 183 mainlanes will fully close at I-35. Traffic will be diverted to the frontage road for a short distance before immediately taking the entrance ramp before Cameron Road.

Drivers should also be aware that the southbound I-35 frontage road at E. Huntland Drive will fully close from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Thursday night. Traffic will detour to Middle Fiskville Road. (See attached illustration.)

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes, as delays are expected. TxDOT asks the traveling public to adhere to construction signage and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.

These closures are part of the Mobility35 program which will bring mobility, safety, and connectivity for all modes of transportation. To learn more about this project and the Mobility35 program, visit My35Construction.org.
