The City Council has allocated approximately $500,000 from the General Fund to assist programs of local social service agencies in recent budgets.

The Human Services Advisory Board will review applications and make its recommendations to the City Council in December. Funding will be for the fiscal year 2021 (Jan. 1, 2021 to Oct. 31, 2021).

Agencies funded in 2019-20 include Hays County Area Food Bank, San Marcos Housing Authority, San Marcos Youth Service Bureau, Southside Community Center, Hays Caldwell Women’s Center, Hands of Hope, Combined Community Action, Scheib Opportunity Center, Any Baby Can, Greater San Marcos Youth Council, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, CASA of Central Texas, Community Action, Cenikor Foundation, Nosotros La Gente, Hays County Child Protective Board, SMCISD, SMTX Community Radio and the Salvation Army.

The City of San Marcos supports local agencies that provide valuable services to the community through multiple funding sources including Human Services Social Services funding, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), and San Marcos Commission on Children and Youth funding.

It is the City’s policy that each program can be funded during any fiscal year from only one City funding source.

Agencies may submit only one application per program to the City funding source of their choice. An agency may submit applications for multiple programs to the same funding source.

City funding may not exceed 50 percent of the funding sources for applicants.
