TxDOT, My I35 and Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority’s Weekly Corridor Traffic and Road Construction Update for the IH-35 Corridor

Please Note: There are no scheduled lane closures Wednesday, Nov. 22 through Saturday, Nov. 25

TxDOT knows you’ve got to get where you need to go.

While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do everything they can to minimize disruptions.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | I-35 Mainlanes and FM 3406 Bridge to Close for Bridge Demolition; Long-term Detour for FM 3406 Bridge. 

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd.) bridge will be closed for widening and reconstruction for approximately 10 months.

Closures are weather permitting.

 

  • The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge closed to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn bridge.| Until summer 2018, weather permitting 

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane under FM 3406 | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, November 20 & Tuesday, November 21

 

  • Westbound FM 3406 reduced to one lane between Mays St & I-35 | From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, November 19

PROJECT OVERVIEWNew braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

  • Northbound & southbound I-35 left lane closed between RM 620 & Westinghouse Rd | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, November 19 through Tuesday, November 21

     

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Gattis School Rd & Mays Crossing | From 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday, November 20 & Tuesday, November 21

I – 3 5   A T   O L T O R F   S T R E E T

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane as needed between Oltorf St & St. Edwards Dr | From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, November 20 & Tuesday, November 21

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between St. Edwards Dr & Woodward St | From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, November 20 & Tuesday, November 21

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Woodward St & Oltorf St. Watch for flaggers. | From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, November 20 & Tuesday, November 21

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed between Oltorf St & Woodward St | 9 p.m. Monday, November 20 to 4 a.m. Tuesday, November 21

PROJECT  OVERVIEW| The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Stassney Ln & William Cannon Dr | From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, November 20 & Tuesday, November 21

 

  • Various closures northbound I-35 frontage road between Boggy Creek Dr & William Cannon Dr | From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, November 20 & Tuesday, November 21

 

  • Westbound Stassney Ln right turn to I-35 frontage road closed | From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 21

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Two ramps on the southbound I-35 frontage roads between RM 1431 and FM 3406 are being reconstructed and reversed to address traffic congestion and improve I-35 frontage road and mainlane operations.
