A Week At A Glance: SMCISD Week Of Nov. 18

San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District is making strides to engage its students in learning every day.

San Marcos CISD has 8,213 students enrolled between its high school, two middle schools and six elementary schools according to the district’s website. 

Every school year, community partners lay the foundation of success for SMCISD students, and the district says they are thankful for their ongoing support of our students and staff!

Hernandez Elementary celebrates Reading Heroes Week

Hernandez Elementary capped off Reading Heroes Week with a book character parade throughout the campus on November 22.

During the week, Hernandez invited visitors to read to students in all grade levels and received a special visit from the SMHS football players!

Child Development Center celebrates 30 years

The Child Development Center and the Pregnancy Education Parenting program celebrated 30 years of serving San Marcos CISD this school year.

In honor of the milestone, the CDC hosted a ceremony that included former students sharing benefits of the program, students performances, and a tour of the new facility.

Travis Elementary students host AVID Family Night

Travis AVID Family Night included students showcasing WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading) strategies and several stations for families to explore a variety of different colleges!

SMHS Phoenix students beautify campus garden

San Marcos HS Phoenix students and teacher Emily Madeley spent time over the past few weeks beautifying the entrance to the high school campus.

The group is currently in the process of building a Monarch Garden in collaboration with the San Marcos Discovery Center.

Thank you to Ms. Madeley and the Phoenix students for their efforts in beautifying the entrance to San Marcos HS.

GSMP Education Summit highlights SMCISD programs

The San Marcos CISD jazz band, robotics students, and Superintendent Michael Cardona represented the district well at the Great San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) Education Summit on Nov. 19.

The event highlighted the great programs in SMCISD and surrounding areas.
