Orangetheory Fitness Opens In San Marcos

“We are excited to introduce Orangetheory Fitness to San Marcos residents,” Terry Blachek, co-founder and owner of Orangetheory Fitness, said. “We believe the new studio will be a great addition to the community.”

San Marcos, Texas— Orangetheory® Fitness, a fast-growing, group fitness concept that takes results to new heights using 60-minute classes broken into intervals of high-energy training, will open its first San Marcos studio on Thursday, January 26, at 243 Wonder World Drive, Suite 108, in the heart of San Marcos. The studio is 3,000 square feet and already has approximately 300 members.

Orangetheory Fitness will host a San Marcos grand opening event—free and open to the public—on Thursday, January 26, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Guests can tour the studio, meet the trainers, try the equipment and take advantage of special grand opening prices.

“It’s been a pleasure to get to know the San Marcos community over the last few months, and we are thankful for the warm welcome,” Ashley Prewitt, local owner of Orangetheory Fitness, said. “We are excited to officially open our doors, and we invite everyone to try Orangetheory. The first class is always free.”

Orangetheory has been featured on Good Morning America, the New York Times and Forbes Magazine and exploded onto the Central Texas fitness scene when its first store opened in 2014. Since then, Orangetheory has opened 12 locations in the Greater Austin Area, and plans to continue expanding to the surrounding areas. The fitness studio currently has more than 500 locations worldwide.

Orangetheory Fitness is based on the physiological science known as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). The workout is a 60-minute class broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training. Participants burn anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories per 60-minute training session using a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, TRX suspension training™ and free weights.

The heart-rate-monitored training is designed to keep heart rates in a target zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy. The result is the Orange Effect—more energy, visible toning and extra calorie burn for up to 36 hours post workout.
