San Marcos Police Investigate Attempted Kidnapping

San Marcos police are investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred Sunday evening at a local store and are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

On Sept. 7, the father of two young girls, aged 10 and 11, reported to police that at about 9 p.m. a man approached his 11-year-old daughter as they shopped at the Wal-Mart store located at 1015 Hwy 80.

According to the father, the man told the girl that he had free toys for her, and she began following him toward an exit.

The 10-year-old followed them and shouted to her father that she and her sister were going to get free toys.

The father went to see what was happening. The individual saw the father approach and left quickly.

The victim and her father described the individual as a Hispanic male, wearing a white shirt, black shorts and a gold necklace. He was also wearing long socks.

The San Marcos Police Department is asking for anyone who was in the area of Wal-Mart on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 from 8:30-8:45 p.m. to contact the San Marcos Police Department if they have additional information on the individual pictured.
