New Comptroller Program Recognizes Best of Open Government

The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts is proud to announce the new Transparency Stars program, recognizing local governments for going above and beyond in their transparency efforts.
Transparency Stars: Recognizing Local Transparency Achievments
Our office will recognize government entities that:
  • open their books not only in their traditional finances, but also in the areas of contracts and procurement, economic development, public pensions and debt obligations; and
  • provide clear and meaningful financial information not only by posting financial documents, but also through summaries, visualizations, downloadable data and other relevant information.
Transparency Stars will launch on March 1, 2016, and we will begin taking applications at that time. In the meantime, please take some time to peruse our general criteria for the program. Consult our Transparency Stars FAQs for more information on applying.
Check back later for further information on the new program, or join our mailing list to learn of new program details as they become available. If you have questions, contact us. We look forward to learning more about local transparency efforts across the state.
Sincerely,
Glenn Hegar
Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts
