San Marcos Hires Hardwick For Economic Development Role

City Manager Bert Lumbreras announced that Scott Hardwick has been hired to fill the City’s Economic and Business Development Manager position.

Hardwick is currently a Senior Business Advisor with the University of Texas-San Antonio’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and will begin his new position in San Marcos on November 18.

Hardwick will bring expertise in utilizing business development techniques and securing business incentives to attract companies to invest in San Marcos.

He also has experience in conducting technical research on business incentive legislation to pursue domestic and international companies. Prior to joining SBDC, Scott spent 15 years as a tax consultant assisting Fortune 500 companies in implementing development cost and tax savings strategies for investment.

“We are excited to have Scott bring his passion for business retention, expansion and recruitment to San Marcos,” said City Manager Bert Lumbreras. “He’ll work to expand our successful economic development efforts as he collaborates with staff, local organizations and businesses to bring new jobs and tax base to our community.”

Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Miami University in Oxford, OH. He is certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional by the National Development Council and is also a member of the International Economic Development Council and the U.S. Green Building Council.
