San Marcos Public Library Wins Award

“Studies have shown that people recognize images faster than text,” said Library Director Diane Insley.

The San Marcos Public Library has won the 2017 Branding Iron Award from the Texas Library Association for its new library logo.

“Studies have shown that people recognize images faster than text,” said Library Director Diane Insley. “I wanted to have a modern logo that the San Marcos community would quickly identify as the public library.  Our unique rounded font gave me the idea for what I wanted, but I needed the graphic design experience of the city’s Marketing Specialist, Stephen Jablonski to design the final logo.”

The logo was designed in-house by the City’s on-staff graphic designer.

The Branding Iron award may be won by any type of Texas library. Nominations are submitted by the libraries and may cover promotional activities conducted in the past two years.  A panel of judges select the winners.

The Texas Library Association was established in 1902 to promote, support, and improve library services in Texas.  TLA is the largest state library association in the United States with over 7,200 members.
