Will Run for Beer.” Not me, but perhaps someone. I run simply because I can, but others may need a bit more convincing, and that is where the Texas 5K 6-Pack Beer Challenge comes in handy.

Sponsored by Run in Texas, this eight race 5K series is ingenious! Independent breweries at eight different locations across Texas host each race. The series kicks off in San Marcos March 3 then travels to Goliad, San Antonio, Georgetown, Galveston, Katy, and Conroe with the final stop in Blanco.

Run one event, or run them all, but individuals participating in at least six of the challenges receive a custom finisher’s medal! 6-Packers also receive a limited edition 6-Pack t-shirt.

As if the custom medal and shirt weren’t reward enough, entry fees for each race include 4 x 8 ounce craft beer tastings at the different independent breweries, along with a finisher glass!

But wait, there’s more!! Not only does each race benefit a unique charity, there are awards for the top overall male and female finishers, top overall master (40 and up) plus top three male and female finishers in the 29 – under, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50  – 59, 60 – 69, and 70+ age divisions.

Please tell me the arm-twisting is working, I really don’t want to hurt anyone by tugging too hard. So, you want to know which charities!?!? Alright, already, I’ll spill the beans; Hayes-Caldwell Women’s Center, Goliad Pet Adoption, Project Phoenix, Veteran Outdoors, Rotary Club of Katy, Toys for Tots Conroe, and Friends of Blanco State Park.

Yes, for anyone curious, my husband and I are registered for the entire series. I’ve invited several of my running peeps from the San Marcos area along with our daughter to join us at the Middleton Brewery 5K. One friend promised to at least come cheer us across the finish line, and our daughter agreed to run.

In Goliad a group of newbie runners from Beeville will join us, but there’s always room for more. Come for one race, or three, or eight. It’ll be fun, and even if it isn’t, there’s beer!! And for the non-drinkers? Food trucks! #signuptoday #itwillbefun #hopetoseeyouthere

Until Next Time,
