EVENT: HeartSaver First Aid & CPR with AED
DATE: February 9 and February 11, 2015

DESCRIPTION: Learn how to save a life. This class is taught on the second Monday and Wednesday of every month. The two-night course combines training in adult, child and infant CPR, rescue breathing, choking, emergency care, the use of an automated external defibrillator and basic first aid. Successful completion of the two-day class is required for certification.

EVENT: Social Spin Dance

DESCRIPTION: CTMC, in partnership with the City of San Marcos, presents the Social Spin Dance, a free social event geared toward local retirees. The dance takes place every other month, and the February theme is Valentine’s.

EVENT: CTMC Women’s Council grant application deadline

DESCRIPTION: Are you a non-profit in Hays County with a heart for serving or providing important services to women and children? The CTMC Women’s Council is once again seeking grant applicants for 2015, which may be submitted through Friday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. Applications for a CTMC Foundation Women’s Council Grant must be completed and sent electronically to the CTMC Foundation office at CTMFoundation@ahss.org on or before the deadline. EVENT: CREATION HealthCheck Community Blood Draw

LOCATION: CTMC Community Classroom, 1301 Wonder World, Dr., San Marcos
DESCRIPTION: Register for a blood draw prior to the 29th annual CREATION HealthCheck Screening and Health Fair, which will take place on Tuesday, April 28 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Embassy Suites in San Marcos. Hays County’s oldest and largest health fair is known for providing discounted health screenings, but this year’s participants will receive more than $500 in important health tests for a low $30 fee.
The basic screening panel includes:
- Complete Metabolic Panel (screening for glucose, renal and liver disorders)
- Lipid Panel (cholesterol with HDL/LDL breakdown, triglycerides)
- Complete Blood Cell Count (white blood cell,, hemoglobin, hematocrit
Those who participate in a pre-even blood draw will have the opportunity to go over their results with a medical provider at the CREATION HealthCheck event. Registration will continue through April 10. To register, please call the CTMC CREATION Health Institute at (512) 753-3818.

EVENT: Embassy Suites presents Fashion From the Heart Fashion Show & Wine Pairing

EVENT: Finding Balance class

DESCRIPTION: Finding Balance is an exercise class designed to help individuals 60 and older to strengthen their balance, which improves safety by decreasing the risk of falls. Added benefits include an improved confidence, enhanced strength and flexibility, a boosted immune system and a maintained or increased level of mobility.
