San Marcos Traffic Update

There will be quite a bit of construction in San Marcos (what else is new?) from September 5 to September 13. The construction will affect traffic on LBJ, Craddock, San Antonio Street and many other areas across the City.  The following is a comprehensive list of all the planned construction road projects.

 

SHORT TERM ROAD PROJECTS:


ALLEY NEXT TO THE MARC: All lanes closed for tour bus coming through the area from 12 p.m. on Sept. 5 to 4 a.m. on Sept. 6, 2014. Tour bus driver will be available to move vehicle immediately if needed.

 

HULL ST: All lanes in both directions will be closed periodically at 10- to 20-minute intervals for a waterline tap installation Sept. 2 – 9, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Obey flaggers and detour to Guadalupe during the brief closures.

 

801 W MLK TO 126 N LBJ:  One-way street will be closed for San Marcos Pride Parade on Sept. 6, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Barricades and traffic control will be present.

 

UNIVERSITY AT LBJ:  LBJ/University intersection will have one westbound lane open on University Drive and eastbound lane closed for intersection reconstruction.

 

McCARTY LANE/HUNTER RD:  McCarty Lane between Hunter Road and the Union Pacific railroad tracks will have intermittent lane closures for the next few weeks due to repairs in the east bound lane. Flagging operations will direct traffic in one lane at multiple times during the day.

 

HOPKINS AT IH-35: TxDOT is building a continuous flow intersection similar to the one at Loop 82 at I-35 involving several nighttime lane closures until the end of September. Please follow all detour and road closure signage and use caution when driving through construction zones.

EAST SAN ANTONIO STREET: Every Saturday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Half a block of street closed from the alley to N. LBJ for the Farmers Market on the Square.

 

 


LONG TERM ROAD PROJECTS:

•    MOORE STREET: Moore Street is closed from Reed to Holland Street due to dormitory construction. This will extend into 2016.

 

•    NORTH LBJ AT ACORN: Reconstruction of N LBJ will continue until Jan. 1, 2015 in conjunction with the N LBJ reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. Acorn Street can be accessed from Chestnut during this time period.

•    NORTH LBJ AT RAMSAY: Ramsay will have intermittent closures to rebuild the intersection through January 1, 2015 is in conjunction with the N LBJ Reconstruction Project. Follow detour signs.

•    NORTH LBJ AT CARDINAL: Cardinal will have intermittent closures to rebuild the intersection until January 1, 2015 in conjunction with the N LBJ Reconstruction. Follow detour signs.

•    POST ROAD WATERLINE PROJECT:  The Post Road Waterline Project involves closures on the southbound lane from the Blanco River toward San Marcos into October. Motorists heading south on Post Road in San Marcos will experience delays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily from 2641 Post Rd. southward for a water line installation. Leave extra time and be aware of flaggers in the area.

 

•    NORTH LBJ: Until Spring of 2015. Reconstruction project is for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. Motorists will be detoured one way northbound on LBJ from Forest to Holland Streets and will use Chestnut as a southbound route during construction.

 

 

•    323 LINDSEY STREET: Portion of parking lane on the south side of Lindsey Street will be blocked off for construction access daily through Jan. 1, 2015 starting at 7 a.m. Street will be passable for regular and emergency traffic.

 

•    TxDOT HUNTER ROAD (FM 2439) PROJECT: Lane closures on Hunter Road between Wonder World Drive and Bishop Street for road, bridge, drainage, bicycle and pedestrian improvements through the Fall 2015.

 

 

PERMANENT ROAD CLOSURE:

CHAMPION BLVD:  Southbound freeway to Premier Parkway on Champion Blvd. will permanently close due to the Yarrington reconstruction project. Traffic will be diverted on to Premier Parkway.
